School Programs: Kanuti National Wildlife Refuge is available to do school visits in the local area. Teachers interested in arranging a visit should contact the refuge manager for more information.
Junior Ranger Program: The Junior Ranger Program activity booklet was designed to help young people become familiar with the interior of Alaska and the North Slope. The activities in the booklet were designed to promote conservation with fa milies while traveling the Dalton Highway. Booklets can be downloaded here or can be pic ked up at the Arctic Interagency Visitor Center in Coldfoot and Yukon Crossing Visit or Contact Station at the Yukon River. Please be advised, some of the activities require the junior ranger to answer questions from the exhibits within the Arctic Interagency Visitor Center, in Coldfoot.
Junior Duck Stamp Program: The Federal Junior Duck Stamp Conservation and Design Program is an integrated art
and science curriculum developed to t each environmental science and habitat conservation. The program combines art, science and cultural curricula to promote a greater awareness of our nation’s natural and cultural resources. Students learn about conserving habitats while they explore the aesthetic qualities of wildlife and nature.
Role of Fire in Alaska: Curriculum guide for K – 12: Fires burn thousands of acres in Alaska each year. Because fires affect all Alaskans, it is important that everyone understands the “Role of Fire in Alaska.”
